Thank you all for being here. We’re up to 94 subscribers (on substack) and quite a few of you actually read the comics on a weekly basis. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy… of course mold also feels warm and fuzzy so…

Here we are again trying to remember how my week went. It was a week where I could have let things derail me but didn’t. On Tuesday I stepped out of the office that I didn’t want to go to and got shit on by a pigeon.

Later I went to Tai Chi and danced around for a bit. I needed to go slow because my old ankle said I had to go slow.

The rest of the week is a blur because we were running back and forth getting cars worked on.

One really fun thing for me was that I bought a huge fan for my woodshop. It’s my best friend now.

Currently listening to someone called Jim Funk on Pandora.. no idea who this is but it fits the morning mood.

Hello, how are you? It’s been a hot minute since we’ve visited. I mean that literally. I live in the North Central chunk of the United States and we’re currently on fire or fire adjacent. I am in no danger but I have a child who is considering heading north to lend a hand. I kind of hope he does.

Speaking of fires, I remember that about this time last year I considered pushing hard on editorial cartooning. It was a good exercise and I think that had I not gotten side tracked I would have done well. I’m also a little happy that I did get off track. I think I’ve dedicated enough of my unpaid time to the current level of wacky that I can.

I do love this rejected New Yorker comic though.

Friday Fog: It’s not a surprise, just a fog, an iceberg, and a really good attitude about all of it. What song are YOU playing on the sinking ship right now?

Earth Paint: one small tube of lipstick standing between them and a perfect human disguise. If aliens tried to blend in using only one human product, what would actually work?

Room for more: turns out the one place that never has a waitlist is the one place you don’t want to get into.

This one started slightly different but I pulled my punch. I’m okay with that but I kind of wish I hadn’t. I just didn’t have the energy to talk to people while drawing it so I made it too vague.

What I’m Reading/Doing:

Still reading through the dungeon crawler carl books but I’m ready for a series to switch to. I’m thinking about a visit to some old favorites.

I’m writing this on Thursday and there is no official Friday comic this week. I am traveling this weekend to attend a nerd fest that I haven’t been to in years.

I started planning this before I knew that most of the old crowd I remember doesn’t go anymore. That’s okay, I’m traveling with my son and he loves to be part of the costumes. I will also be dressing up this year…. kind of.

I have picked out all the things from my clothing that might double as a costume for an old fat guy. I have costumes for “Skipper, Mario, and Cobra Trooper on vacation”. Plus I packed a few of what I think of as “fun drinking shirts”. They count as costumes because I barely drink but drunk people love to tell me about them.

The Comics:

Turns out interstellar diplomacy is easy. It’s the family recipe that’s classified. If aliens showed up and asked for your family recipe, would you fight for it too?

We used to be the professionals but now everyone is a professional.

The Archives:

It’s always that other guy who makes work tough and not the fact that we’re working on some pro level procrastination.
